Your Favorite Blog

I was sitting here wondering what is it about a certain blog that makes you come back over and over?I love to read blogs about your family and your decorating ideas. I like to see what projects people are working on and what they are cooking. So what makes you visit a certain blog? Do feel you are drawn to a blog by it's pictures or by the topics?

Thanks to everyone for your ideas on my little dresser. I really would love to use it in the kitchen but what could I put inside it? Loved the bathroom idea also a lot of goodies could be stored in it for that room. Another great thing about blogging you guys are always so helpful!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I have my up days and my down days. I  seem to be having more down than up lately. I am hoping to get lost in some projects which should keep my mind busy so I don't worry so much.

In Need of some Ideas

OK I need some ideas. A few years ago my Nanny gave me this little dresser. If I know her she got it from the TS. She said when she seen it she knew I had to have it. Anything my Nanny ever gave me was a treasure and now more so since she is gone. So here it is. It's 14" tall and 5 1/2" wide with six drawers. There are no pulls so it's hard to get the drawers open. I was thinking of attaching some knobs on and painting it BUT what do I do with it? I am open to any suggestions.

....................................................................................................

I haven't really been in a blogging mood lately. I like many others was glued to my TV to see what our new President had to say. I sit here everyday searching for hours for a job. It's getting really scary and I have several neighbors who are also feeling what I am feeling. I hope and I pray that this country can be turned around. I thought being unemployed was going to be a good time to catch up on some projects and learn a few new ones. I have not done anything but clean and look for work. I can not seem to relax long enough to get into any projects I feel so guilty for doing anything enjoyable. I hope you guys can help me get motivated.

IT"S A GIRL

Well, seems like yesterday but it was actually 20 years ago my sweet Jessica was born. After 32 hours of labor and a c-section she was finally here my 6lb 7oz bundle of joy. She procrastinated then and still does to this very day.
This was taken in 1989 her first Christmas. This is her cousin Nikki they were born just 6 weeks apart.
This was taken a couple of years later. This is the year she got her first Cabbage Patch doll Angie. As you can tell she is feeding Angie. Shhhh don't tell anyone but she still has Angie. :)
Here is Jessica and Eleni. Jessica was almost 5 and Eleni was almost 6 months old.
Boy they grow a lot in 5 years. Jessica is 10 here.

Here are just a few from those silly teen years. Jessica and her oldest best friend Victoria. Then there are her new best friend Ashley and Julie.
I couldn't go without including a picture of Jessica and her dearest, bestest friend in the world. Jessica and Pepper share a special bond. He loves her unconditionally.
I feel a little sad because my sweet little Jessica isn't a little girl anymore but a fine young lady. Her Dad and I couldn't have a raised a finer young lady. Happy 20th Birthday Jessica!
This blog is going to surprise Jessica more than anything. This is the first time I have used my scanner by myself. She will never expect to see these pictures. :)

Where do you sleep?

Last week Tammy http://countrygirlathome.blogspot.com/ showed us all her bedroom. It got me to thinking what does everyone's bedroom look like and what size bed do you have. I would love to own a king size bed one day because Abby sleeps with us. Although Miss Abby is not a big dog she likes to spread out and she likes to hog the covers.  My bedroom is not as lovely as Tammy's but I decided to share pictures.

We have a cherry pencil post queen size bed which I love. Right now I am using an old bedspread that belonged to my Nanny. I am hoping when I get a job to buy a new spread or comforter set. Oh the doll on my bed my aunt gave me on my 40th birthday it's a porcelain doll named Jessica.

At the foot of my bed is my Nanny's sewing machine cabinet. It has a sewing machine inside it. The black and white picture is of my Nanny when she was a young lady. It's one of many favorites I have of her. Hanging above the cabinet is a coat rack I bought at a craft show. I think it looks better with baskets hanging from it.

That's it for my bedroom. I hope to re-do it soon but for now it will have to do. Thanks for taking a peek.

Has your decorating style changed?

I'm driving myself crazy being at home is starting to get to me. I am cleaning cupboards and closets. I even went and cleaned the attic. We don't have a lot up there but I felt the need to see what could go and what could stay. How do you know when it's time to get rid of something? My girls each had a tote full of beanies remember them? They have decided since they haven't seen them for the past 5 years they can finally get rid of them. So we are going to donate them to the Police Department so they can use them when they have a call that involves a child. Stuffed animals seem to make children feel better and the girls and I are just happy we could do something good with them. Jessica actually had 2 totes of beanies, 2 totes of Coke collectibles, and 2 more totes of dolls and misc. stuff. She went through them and actually got it all down to 1 tote! We will be donating things to the local Good Will and Vets. I have 2 totes of my own to deal with.

When we moved here I was a huge Boyd's collector. I had stuffed and resin. My other house was very country. I had wagons everywhere filled with bears, the cat's meow houses over every window and door way. I had the hearts in the windows with cute pictures and shelves everywhere. I loved my old house. I was so sad when I had to move. When we moved here I was excited because it was a much larger house with hardwood floors. After about 6 months I hated it. This is a very dusty area and my floors are not in the best of shape. We are renters so I am only going to invest so much into a home that isn't mine. It didn't take me long to downsize my collections. I still have a few stuffed Boyd's and a few wagons. They are all packed away because I got tired of dusting everything. I'm sure that's what's in my 2 totes. When I look at pictures of my old house I notice just how many things I have parted with over the years and how much my taste has changed. I often wonder if I hadn't of moved what my cute little rancher would look like now. Has your decorating changed much lately? What would you change if you could?

Best Friends

I have been blessed in my life time with so many great friends. My oldest and dearest friend is Kim. She has been there for me in some good times and many bad times. She is that one friend I could call anytime day or night and she would be there for me. We have been friends for about 30 years now. Oh when we were teenagers we had some good times. Still to this day when I hear Reo or Journey or see a white mustang I can't help but think back to the fun Kim and I had growing up. We may not talk a lot or see each other a lot but we always seem to stay in touch.

Kim and I have been talking more than usual lately because she FINALLY decided to give scrap booking a try. We have spent the last 2 weekends shopping for her supplies. We finally got started on her book Saturday night. I think she really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to scrap booking with her again soon.

Here are a couple of pictures of us working on her book. Since we got a late start Saturday she was only able to get two pages done but it's a start. I think we have plenty of time to complete it since it's going to be a Christmas gift. :)

Even though Kim doesn't blog she usually reads my blog when I post. I wanted to say to Kim thanks for always being such a great friend, and for sharing so many great memories with me. Here's to new memories and 30 more years of friendship!

My first Award

I just wanted to thank Joy over at http://joy-doodlebug.blogspot.com/ for my very first award. I would share this with so many wonderful bloggers but many have become award free. So if I visit your blog daily it's because I believe you are more than worthy of this award. Thanks again Joy and Happy Birthday.
